Dr. Eric Peay COREHealth Wellness Center
Q and A
Although everyone’s wellness needs are slightly different there are a few questions that seem to come up more often than others. I thought you might find it useful for me to address the four questions that I get most often.
Q: I’ve heard that once you start going to a chiropractor, you’ll always have to go.
A: Most of the time this question is asked by people who fail to look upon chiropractic treatment as a holistic approach to pain management and wellness. Many people will think nothing of using some sort of over-the-counter anti-inflammatory such as Advil, Ibuprofen, or Tylenol for years. Several of my patients report that they have to take these drugs daily to have some sort of relief even though studies show that even a few doses a year could cause unnecessary stress on your kidneys and liver. When I ask a patient when they plan to stop taking these medications, they look at me like I’m crazy. The fact is that most people are willing to take daily medication without a second thought so why not commit to a long-term, drug free wellness plan?
Q: How is a wellness clinic different from other doctor’s offices?
A: At COREhealth our goal is to educate and empower our patients to improve their health potential for the future. Our office focuses on maximizing health from many different angles. First, we look at your body from a structural or physical aspect to determine if everything is in proper alignment, and to rule out anything pathological. Next, we look at your overall nutrition and possible deficiencies or toxicities and correct any imbalances that may be interfering with your road to wellness. Finally we always look at stress and the emotional components of your health and wellness. Most of us don’t realize that true health is a combination of many good habits.
Q: I’ve heard about Booty Camp, but I’m afraid that I’m not fit enough to participate.
A: Dr. Peay’s Booty Camp is specifically designed for all fitness levels. Our participants range in age from 18 to 65 years old. Booty Camp will challenge your body in ways it may never have been challenged before. Equally important is we teach the proper way to exercise to avoid injury and strengthen those areas that may be considered weaker. Every participant comes to Booty Camp with different issues and different goals. We limit the number of participants in Booty Camp so we can provide individualized attention to each person. I started Booty Camp specifically for my patients who struggled with core strength and stability, so we gladly welcome all fitness levels.
Q: I’m not sure I buy in to the whole organic food fad; is there really a difference?
A: Most professionals agree that truly great health, which we feel as an energetic state that radiates with joy and vitality, is 10% genetic, 10% exercise, and up to 80% nutrition. We offer a free nutrition class so you can make wiser food choices. It’s not a diet, it’s a new way of looking at food and nutrition. Although we cover a tremendous amount of material in the class, making just one or two minor changes may be all it takes to help you lose weight, have more energy, enjoy a better night’s sleep, and create a more youthful appearance. We welcome everyone, including non-patients, to sign up for our nutrition classes.
