Empower YOU!

Bill Blalock, "America's Life Coach"

Life has a way of piling up very fast.  With the media predicting impending doom due to the financial crisis every day, morning and evening news reports that primarily convey only tragedy, corruption and disappointment, do you feel a bit emotionally drained?  Oh, and by the way, how about those of you reading this article that have just lost their job or have the fear of losing one.  How about your business? Are times a bit stressful?  Well, all of these external events do impact us.  So the only way to counter attack is to use your best asset …and that is YOU!

Here are some optimistic secrets that may help “Empower You!”

1.  Trade A Smile For A Smile.  Ever notice that when you smile, the response is a return smile! According to research, moods and facial expressions they generate are contagious.  Does a smile someday make your day?

2.  Now Smile More Often.  Using your “smile” muscles actually tells your brain to shift into a more positive mood.  Think of oil and water.  They just don’t mix.  So it is with a smile. There is no way you can both smile and frown at the same time!  Try it!  Then keep smiling.

3.  Explain Both Your Successes & Failures Like An Optimist.  An optimist keeps failure outside himself, assigning it to external circumstances that can be dealt with.  When success occurs, the optimist attributes it to himself.  A pessimist, on the other hand, makes failure internal, global and permanent, while assigning success to “mere luck.”

4.  Stack Your Deck! If you always compare yourself to everyone richer and in better shape than you, you will always come up wanting.  But think of everything you’re glad you’re not, and you will find more satisfaction.

5.  Shift Your Focus. You might not be able to stop depressing facts or negative thoughts from invading your personal consciousness, but you can choose not to dwell on them.  Focus on the positive, and the surrounding negative energy will gradually dissipate.

6.  Surround Yourself With Positive Energy. Build a healthy support network of friends and associates who exemplify a positive affirming outlook on life.  You will feel the positive energy when you are with them!  They will energize you to a clear sense of positive self worth and accomplishment.

Remember:  By empowering yourself, you can see opportunities in even the difficult situations that will help you move closer to your own goals and dreams!
